  • 1 lb ground beef (or substitute with turkey/chicken)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or mixed cheeses)

  • Optional: 1 can (4 oz) diced green chiles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef with chopped onions until beef is browned and onions are soft. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stir in the cooked beef and onions. Add green chiles if desired.
  5. Layer half of the frozen French fries in a greased casserole dish.
  6. Pour the beef mixture over the fries, spreading evenly.
  7. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  8. Add the remaining French fries on top and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly and the fries are crispy.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
  • Customize the cheese blend to your liking for different flavor profiles.
  • For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or hot sauce along with green chiles.
