- 1 cup Guinness beer
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a saucepan, combine Guinness and butter; heat until melted. Whisk in cocoa powder until smooth.
- In a large bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the Guinness mixture, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla; beat until combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely.
For the Frosting:
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa; mix until creamy.
- Add milk and vanilla; beat until desired consistency. Frost the cooled cakes.
